THE COCKTAIL!

Legend has it that a bartender named Ted Pizio who worked at a bar called Confetti in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. created the Sex On The Beach and won the competition.
The story behind this cocktail is about as romantic as its name- the bartender, Ted Pizio, was taking part in a competition to sell as much peach schnapps as possible. He was working at Confetti’s bar and felt that the two main reasons most people came to that part of the world were sex, and the beach…see what he did there. However, there has been some doubt cast on this, as there was actually apparently a recipe printed in a Bartender’s Guide even earlier but needless to say, we have the 80’s to thank for this cocktail.
Now we bartenders can be guilty of taking ourselves too seriously sometimes, and perhaps looking down on a drink like this one, but when it’s made with good ingredients it can be a perfect, refreshing summertime cocktail.
